Appenzell hiking

The Swiss Alps is a photographer’s dream trip—inspiring landscapes, breathtaking mountain panoramas and vibrant cultural settings. Now imagine having a professional landscape photographer at your side in these idyllic alpine locations to provide personalized instruction, enabling you to capture the greatest shots you’ve ever taken, while learning and developing your photographic skills like never before.

Photographers of all skill levels can improve their technical and creative skills. Work on your field techniques (exposure, focus, tripod skills, filtering), composition, light recognition, and post-processing. Think of all the questions you’ve had in the past, but never had a pro landscape photographer to ask. We’ve selected the world’s most stunningly beautiful mountains, meadows, waterfalls, and glaciers for your backdrop.

For a photographer, the Alps are the most accessible mountains in the world, where cogwheel railways, mountain trams, and funiculars put you in the heart of the action. You can bring ample gear, since you’ll rarely be walking more than three miles per day. After fieldwork, there’s time for critiques and post-processing help. Our small group provides optimal one-one-one instruction along with group discussion. We’ve thought of everything, and all accommodations, meals, ground transportation and instruction is included.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrive in Geneva or Zurich – Meet and greet at airport and transfer to Zermatt at the base of the Matterhorn. You’ll explore a glacial gorge and uncover quaint farms and alpine meadows dotted with 500-year-old farm buildings---with the world’s most iconic mountain as our backdrop. (Dinner)

Day 2 – Zermatt – Take the historic cogwheel train to a mountain observation point high above the valley for a stunning glacial view, a panorama of the highest peaks in the Alps, and mirror-like reflections of the Matterhorn in a glacial lake. (BSD)

Day 3 – Kandersteg –
This classic alpine village with traditional wooden chalets is cradled in a breathtaking valley—an exciting new addition for our 2010 photo tour. (BSD)

Day 4 – Lauterbrunnen – Set in the world’s most spectacular glacial valley, Lauterbrunnen is ringed by 72 waterfalls, including some of the highest in Europe. (BSD)

Day 5 – Lauterbrunnen – This spectacular setting offers exceptional opportunities for shooting the kind of mountain scenery that has made this a UNESCO World Heritage Site. (BSD)

Day 6 – Jungfrau – Today we take a train through the Eiger to a lookout at the head of the largest glacier in the Alps. We’ll stop along the way and photograph the climbing routes on the fearsome North Face. (BSD)

Day 7 – Grindelwald – This beautiful mountain resort lies in a valley below snow-capped peaks and surrounded by alpine meadows where sheep, cows, and goats graze throughout the summer. (BSD)

Day 8 – Grindelwald to Geneva or Zurich – You’ll walk to a glacial lake that forms an “infinity pool” with the peaks of the Jungfrau as a glorious backdrop. We descend through fragrant forests of larch, pine, and spruce. (BSD)

Day 9 – Geneva or Zurich – Our Alps tour and photo workshop concludes in Geneva or Zurich with easy access to homeward flights. (B)
