Tschiertschen may be the least known of all Alpenwild Getaway destinations. It’s hard to pronounce, harder to spell, but easy to love. Tschiertschen (try saying “Cheer-chin”) comes from the Romansch word meaning “cherry.” It’s located on the south side of the Schanfigg Valley at an elevation of over 1351 meters and lies near the Arosa-Lenzerheid-Davos triangle in canton Graubünden near Chur. Given its remote location, getting to Tschiertschen is easily accomplished by taking a single-connection ride from Zurich. But even with those directions, you’re not likely to find it on a map of Switzerland—which makes it a perfect place to escape to.
Once you’re there, it’s the perfect place to stay and relax. Your newly-renovated 4-star hotel has just 22 rooms and views that stretch across the valley. The state-of-the-art spa facilities beg you to linger and relax.
Tschiertschen has been known to hikers on the Alpine stages of the St. James Way (Jakobsweg) for centuries. Your Getaway include detailed directions for favorite hikes in the area including Farur and Urdensee.Your home in Tschiertschen is the Alpina Mountain Resort and Spa, where you’ll have complimentary access to mountain bikes, backpacks, trekking poles. And wherever your adventures may take you during the day you can look forward to a soothing massage or whirlpool bath for your body and a heated drying rack for your hiking shoes at day’s end.
