Sofie Elise Quist, Trip Leader

Sofie grew up on an island in one of Europe’s flattest countries, but that has not kept her from taking every opportunity to spend time in the mountains. At 20 she moved from her native Denmark to Scotland where she trained as a hiking and climbing guide. Since then, her passion for ‘friluftsliv’ (Danish for living your life outside), hiking, and mountaineering has taken her to mountain ranges around the world, from the Himalayas to Patagonia and the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. She now lives in Arctic Norway with her partner and fellow Alpenwild guide, Louis, and a whole bunch of Alaskan huskies.

Sofie balances nature guiding with research and returns to the Alps each summer to share her passion for the peaks, meadows, and wonderful people with guests from all over. With a degree in international law and a keen interest in ecology and history, Sofie loves to share the stories of the landscapes around her. “Did you know that as glaciers move, so does the border between Italy and Switzerland?” As a guide, the most important thing to her is that all guests, no matter their abilities and interests, have the trip of their lifetime. She can’t wait to meet you in the Alps and share her favorite trails with you!
