Sophie Nolan, UIMLA Certified International Wilderness Guide

Sophie grew up in the heart of Wales, covered in mud from riding bikes, kicking a football, or following her great grandad up and over the Welsh hillsides. These days things haven't changed much, but the hills have gotten a bit bigger.

With a degree in graphic design, but a love for the outdoors, Sophie moved to the Italian Dolomites to fulfill her hiking, cycling, and climbing dreams. She then went on to study in Scandinavia to become a fully qualified International Wilderness Guide. She spent her winters working as a musher on a husky farm and gaining experience guiding arctic expeditions in Finland.

Sophie still can’t decide which of Alpenwild’s treks are her favorite. However, her highlights include staying in the mountain huts on the Haute Route, the stunning turquoise Oeschinen lake on the Bernese Oberland, and the Italian Val ferret hike on the Tour du Mont Blanc.

"Sophie's leadership and support were essential to my completion and enjoyment of the Tour du Mont Blanc." -C.R., Olympia, WA

"Thank you just doesn't cover it! You made this trip so incredibly special. Your confidence and humor while guiding this crazy group will always be appreciated." -H.D., Vail, CO

"What an amazing adventure! The scenery, weather, food and accommodations were all spectacular!! Of course the silver lining was having Jen and Sophie as our experienced guides!! I know there were a lot of behind the scenes phone calls, shopping and organizing but you two made it seem effortless!!  - C.H., USA)??????
