Emma Linford

Taking a dramatic swerve away from an earlier career as a designer, the past 18 years Em has been a social change activist, facilitating transformational change for people and organizations in wilder environments. She has worked with a huge variety of people, notching up 20 overseas youth expeditions and over 30 adult expeditions and for ten years selected personnel, trained and led arctic expeditions including the BBC's Natural History Unit. She’s also worked in almost every condition and environment on earth, from the sea ice of the high Arctic, to the African bush, to the jungle, to the high altitude mountains of the Himalayas  so she’s a well rounded International Mountain Leader! Hence she has developed a thoroughly adaptable leadership style and high level competency that blends technical and interpersonal skills with delivering key environmental and cultural messages.

In the past she has explored her own limits of endurance through numerous competitive and sponsored sporting challenges but now much prefers slow exploration and journeying to be able to form a stronger connection to place.

Em is a member of the British Association of Mountain Leaders, holds the four day WMT Advance Medicine Remote first aid qualification, is an accredited practitioner with the Institute of Outdoor Learning, is an RGS fellow and has recently completed a Masters in Movement, Mind and Ecology.
