Guy Martin, UIMLA guide

Guy Martin
Guy Martin

Guy has been living in different regions of the European Alps since 2017 and never ceases to find inspiration and wonder in new valleys and alpine villages to explore.  Outside of leading in the mountains, he is a school teacher of multiple subject areas that match his passions and skillset,  including music and the performing arts, outdoor expeditionary education, and sport.  Although he loves to move through the mountains at different paces imparting his passion for the alpine environment to guests, the most still you will find him is when he is caught playing the alphorn or trying to yodel!  Guy loves to spend time with people from all walks of life and hear their stories and their journeys that have brought them together on a trip.

In his free time, he will happily find himself in the mountains exploring the lesser-traveled corners of the alps, planning his next adventure, or continuously building his knowledge of the mountains.  He is also a qualified ski instructor and patroller in Scotland which he calls his other spiritual home, having studied at Aberdeen University then lived in the Cairngorms National Park amongst some of the most awe-inspiring wilderness in Europe.  Guy’s trekking experiences stretch all across North America and Canada, Peru, Chile, and New Zealand to mention a few and he eagerly looks forward to sharing his passion for the mountains with guests.
