Louis Waterman-Evans, UIMLA Certified International Mountain Leader

Louis has been an avid outdoor enthusiast from an early age. He has spent most of his summers exploring the Alps and each winter spends time with family in Switzerland. Louis now has over 5 years’ guiding experience with Alpenwild and is a certified International Mountain Leader. His guiding style is inclusive, positive and personable. Always flexible in his approach, Louis likes to encourage open dialogue to ensure each and every guest in his groups has an awesome experience. This means drawing on his depth of knowledge of the local areas to tailor the plan, at times taking it slower; at others offering additional hiking options for those ‘speed goats’ at the front.

 Louis’ passion for adventure and travel has seen him travel to and live in different parts of the world, including Germany, Czech Republic, Nepal, Scotland and Chile. Now based in Tromsø, Norway with his partner Sofie (also an Alpenwild guide), Louis feels privileged every time he sees the Northern Lights, plays in the snow or sees the sun during the ‘polar nights’ (the sun doesn’t rise for 2 months each winter!) 

 You'll find Louis with his running shoes on most mornings. He spent a few years running on unrelenting flat roads in the city, so running up beautiful Alpine trails is an absolute delight for him. As the old saying goes, the more the merrier, so do get involved if you fancy an early morning run before the day's hike or a quick dash to build up an appetite for dinner!
