It was such a great experience from the moment we opened the Alpenwild website to the final goodbyes in Zermatt. Our guides were a fun, knowledgeable, energetic, all around fantastic team! The trek itself was completely as advertised and the assortment of accommodations made for a perfect overall experience. - D.A., Salt Lake City, UT
Get ready for an unforgettable adventure on the Chamonix-Zermatt Haute Route. This classic trek across the Swiss Alps is widely regarded as the most scenic in Europe. Start in Chamonix, at the base of Mont Blanc, and trek to Zermatt, at the base of the Matterhorn. Be prepared for picture perfect views at every turn.
Each memorable day on the Haute Route is defined with a combination of challenging mountain passes, flowered meadows, massive glaciers, icefalls, fir forests, and stunning lakes. At the end of the day, you’ll hike into picturesque villages where traditional inns await with delicious meals and cozy comforts.
We shuttle your luggage almost every day, so all you need to carry is a daypack with water and snacks. And of course, you’ll want to bring your camera too — after all, the Haute Route is widely regarded as the most scenic trek in the Alps.
Because we offer many summer departures on the Haute Route, you'll have more options than you’d find with other operators. Our guides have years of experience and an intimate knowledge of the route, along with its natural history, language, and culture. We stay in superb accommodations that capture the charm and authenticity of the Alps. We include all meals and trail snacks, with a good mix of set menus and a la carte dining throughout the trip. We also include premium excursions such as the Gornergrat cogwheel railway as part of the trip, so there is no better choice for the Haute Route than Alpenwild.
