Hiking days vary: some are relatively short (around 5–8 miles), while others include strenuous climbs — for example, the ascent of Scafell Pike and Ingleborough. According to the itinerary, you may hike up to ~3,500 feet in ascent/descent on some days.
The trip is rated strenuous: you should be an active hiker, comfortable walking 7-8+ hours on rugged terrain.
While England’s hills are far from high-altitude mountains, you’ll still tackle significant climbs. For example, one day includes the ascent of one of England’s highest peaks. The elevations are moderate, but the intensity of climbs can feel substantial — good fitness is important.

No — this tour is pure hiking, not climbing. While there are steep and rocky sections, no special climbing gear, ropes, or via?ferrata skills are required. The paths are marked, and your guides are experienced in the terrain.
We rate this trip as strenuous. You should be an active hiker in good physical condition. You should be capable of walking 7 to 8 hours per day on rugged trails with some steep ascents and descents (averaging 2,500 to 3,500 vertical feet per day) at an elevation up to 3500 feet above sea level. Due to the rugged terrain and challenging underfoot, this trek is more difficult than most of our Alpine treks.
