I'm certain we all agree that Max and Kathleen did a superb job shepherding us across Switzerland. They are a great team and I know Mark and I found this to be one our best trips ever - in large measure a tribute to their great teamwork! And we felt so lucky to travel with such a fun group. We enjoyed every one of you and maybe we will see you again on another trip in the future! - L.M. from ID
After arrival in Zurich, we will provide you with a train pass to get to Lucerne (1 hour by train). Trains depart Zurich every hour, going to Lucerne. The rail pass we provide is a 15-day 1st Class Swiss Travel Rail pass. 9 of the days will be used during the tour, but guests are free to use the extra 6 days for any pre- or post-tour days.
The tour group will meet on the first day of the tour at 12:30 pm in the hotel lobby for a casual meet and greet and mountain excursion to Mt. Pilatus. Note that you will need to travel with your luggage to Lucerne and get to the hotel on your own (approximately 2 blocks from the train station). We will provide a map and directions to this hotel with your tour documents.
After a final breakfast in the Zurich hotel, you can continue to your future destinations. Please note that if you choose to extend your time in Switzerland, we can delay your final hotel night in Zurich to a later date if needed (there may be an extra charge for this depending on the hotel rate for the final night).
Our Destination Specialists can provide recommendations for pre-tour nights in Lucerne and post-tour nights in Grindelwald at the end of the tour if you would like. Simply call or email us your plans, and we can assist to help making the best of your vacation experience.
You will stay in carefully chosen small 3- and 4-star hotels that capture the authentic charm of the Alps.
NOTE: The Lucerne and St. Moritz hotels on this tour do not have twin beds that can be pulled apart. The twin-size beds will be in the same bed frame with separate bedding.
The hallmark of an Alpenwild trip is our exceptional dining, including buffet breakfasts and many dinner options.
NOTE: Alcoholic beverages, specialty drinks, lunches, and one dinner in Zermatt are not included.
