Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrive St Moritz

Travel by First Class rail from Zurich (or from any destination in Switzerland) to St. Moritz. Overnight in St. Moritz.

Day 2 – Glacier Express

After breakfast, board the legendary Glacier Express for your journey across Switzerland’s Alpine wonderland, crossing 291 bridges, passing through 71 tunnels, and across the Oberalp Pass. Ascending the Mattertal, you’ll arrive in Zermatt in the late afternoon. Overnight in Zermatt.

Day 3 – Zermatt

You can take the classic cogwheel railway excursion to the top of the Gornergrat where you’ll be surrounded by more 4,000-meter peaks than anywhere else in the Alps (note there is an additional charge for this excursion). Enjoy spectacular views of the Matterhorn and Monte Rosa. Overnight in Zermatt.

Day 4 – Depart Zermatt

Travel from Zermatt by First Class rail to the Zurich airport or any other Swiss destination for onward travel. Your Alpenwild Certified Switzerland Specialist can also assist with other travel plans within Switzerland.

Activity Level

Alpenwild trips are designed for people who are active and filled with a spirit of adventure. We rate this trip as easy but you should be capable of walking about one mile per day. On one day you will take a mountain railway to an elevation of over 10,000 feet.
